The Borough Clerk is appointed by the Mayor and Council.  By virtue of the position, the Borough Clerk serves as a liaison between the governing officials and the residents, prepares the meeting agendas, records the minutes of the Council meetings, and processes resolutions and ordinances adopted by the Council in accordance with State statutes.  In the absence of the Borough Clerk, the Deputy Borough Clerk assumes all the duties.

The Borough Clerk is the custodian of the municipal seal and maintains custody of all minutes, books, bonds, contracts, archival records of the municipality, and processes OPRA requests.

Licenses for raffles and bingos, limousines, towing, and various annual liquor licenses are issued through the Borough Clerk's office.  Organizations may apply at the Borough Clerk's office for bingo and raffle licenses, which must be approved by the Council and are subject to the rules and regulations of New Jersey's Legalized Games of Chance Control Commission.  Liquor Licenses are issued upon Police Department review and Council approval.

The Clerk is the Election Official for the Borough; provides voter registration applications, issues and receives nominating petitions for Borough elective offices, conducts local elections and certifies the results.

In addition to the statutory requirements of the position, the Clerk's office processes block party applications, solicitor and peddler permits, and may assist with the reservation of Memorial Park Pavilion and Coopers Pond.

The Clerk's office is always willing to help residents and direct any inquiries to the appropriate department.
